
Senior Human Resources Director
Location: Primarily onsite in San Ramon. Minimal CA travel to other locations required.
Reports to: CEO
Compensation: $125-$150K

Our goal is to ensure efficient back-end operations, allowing mental health providers to focus on providing forensic mental health services. Soteria is looking for a Senior Human Resources Director to co-lead the human resources function.
Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Human Resources Director will be part of the HR team (currently a recruiter and another Senior HR Director), supporting 150+ (and growing) employees at Soteria, HOPE, and New Beginnings. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy in all areas of HR
This position requires that you work onsite, primarily in our office in San Ramon. There will be limited travel within California to our other offices.
In this role, you will:

With the other Senior Human Resources Director, lead all areas of HR, including recruiting, onboarding and offboarding, career planning and performance management, compensation and benefits, training, workforce planning, department and organizational development, employee relations, compliance, and HR systems.

Develop a strong understanding of Soteria’s, HOPE’s, and New Beginnings’ business structure and goals.

Work with the CEO & other Senior Human Resources Director to identify areas where HR practices and policies do not align with company goals. Determine and implement necessary changes to ensure that HR work supports overall business goals. Create SOPs as appropriate to document updated and new processes and systems.

Review current monetary compensation and employee benefits in order to develop a total compensation plan that attracts and retains top talent and meets company business goals.

Along with the other Senior Director of HR and the benefits broker, evaluate current benefit offerings. Make (and implement, as approved) changes to enrich benefits toward the goal of employee satisfaction and retention.

Work with HR staff to evaluate and refine the complete recruiting process, helping to ensure that the Company is successful in meeting aggressive recruiting goals. Ensure that the recruitment, new hire orientation, and onboarding processes provide employees with a positive experience from their first contact with the company.

Help create and promote a culture of regular feedback for staff at all levels. Work with managers to provide ongoing feedback and train them on when to ask for assistance from HR.

Review current employee evaluation tools and processes for effectiveness in providing constructive feedback, setting and tracking goals, and providing professional development opportunities. Assist managers with preparing and presenting effective evaluations for their staff.

Identify reasons behind employee turnover and work with managers to help reduce employee turnover to 3%/year. Identify reasons behind employee turnover. Develop and implement practices that align with overall business goals to reduce employee turnover and increase employee engagement and satisfaction. Work closely with the other Senior HR Director to oversee employee engagement initiatives.

Coach managers with varying amounts of people management experience on HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and retention. Design and implement manager development and training.

Oversee performance plans and involuntary employee departures. Work closely with managers and, as appropriate,e the CEO, to ensure that these processes are fair, meet legal requirements, company policy, and

Maintain deep knowledge of local, state, and federal legal requirements related to human resources. Ensure HR compliance and reporting.

Serve as a second set of eyes on submitted staff timesheets. Complete payroll audits as necessary.

Establish strong relationships across the companies through clear and effective communication, coaching, and advice.

Serve as an objective first stop for employees and managers for interpersonal and performance-based issues. Deftly manage organizational and employee needs. Coach all parties through employee relations matters.

Lead HR technology, evaluating current systems and researching and implementing new ones as appropriate.

Lead internal investigations, consulting with legal representation as needed.

Perform other HR duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications:

12+ years of experience in Human Resources, with at least eight years of experience building HR departments and directly managing HR teams.

Experience in senior HR positions in organizations with 100+ employees. Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred.

Strong sense of confidentiality.

Proven track record of mitigating and solving employee issues prior to escalation.

Proven track record of successfully advising and partnering with leadership and implementing new processes and procedures as necessary in growing organizations.

Strong understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws and compliance requirements.

Strategic HR planning experience, particularly in rapidly growing organizations.

Equal comfort and willingness to perform day-to-day HR tasks.

Deep knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Demonstrated experience in building and managing diverse workforces.
